You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Television and OTT Platforms, brought to you by The Indian Express.

“Let’s begin with news on The Kapil Sharma Show, which is all set to take a break from next month as the team travels to the USA for a tour. Replacing the series will be another comedy show titled Laughter Champions, with Archana Puran Singh being joined by Shekhar Suman on the judges panel.

A source shared with indianexpress.com that the channel did not want to miss on its loyal fanbase. They said, “Comedy Circus has been a successful project on Sony TV and has even given India many talented artists. With no stand-up comedy show at the moment, the team decided to launch one. While having Archana on the show was a no-brainer, the team decided to get Shekhar Suman too.”””
“In more news from the Kapil Sharma show,

Kapil Sharma will host the team of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in an upcoming episode. In the promos released by the channel, Kapil can be seen sharing some hilarious moments with actors Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav and director Anees Bazmee. In one of the promos, Kapil asks Kartik if he is ready to play football with Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan in Dubai and Kartik replies in the affirmative. Kapil then asks, “They are both married. Don’t you think you should also get married? Or are you thinking you want to play the field? To which Kartik replies, I want to play, football.”

This left the audience in splits.”
“Moving on,

Shark Tank India fame Ashneer Grover on Wednesday shared a photo with one of the contestant of the show. Ravi Kabra, who presented his product Skippi Pop on the show, had left all five sharks impressed. They all pitched to invest in his business together and made an investment of Rs 1 crore for 15 per cent equity. As per Ashneer’s post, post his stint on the reality show, Ravi’s business has seen a 40X growth.

In the caption, Ashneer wrote, “Great to catch up with @skippiicepops founder @ravikabra after Shark Tank. Skippi is a great product and probably the biggest success story from @sharktank.india Season 1 with 40X growth in sales,” ”
“Meanwhile,

Krushna Abhishek, in a recent chat, opened up about his relationship with his maternal uncle Govinda and broke down as he shared that he truly loves him and misses him.

Talking to Maniesh Paul on his podcast, Krushna recollected that he was born after Govinda made a mannat at Vaishno Devi. He shared that his mother shared a very close bond with Govinda. Krushna said that his parents had been married for ten years and at that point, Govinda visited the holy shrine and pledged that if his sister has a baby, he will walk up to the temple with the baby on his shoulders.

“The team of television’s most popular and long-running sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, got together to attend the premiere of a Gujarati film, Kehvatlal Parivar in Ahmedabad. The film was special for the team as it featured the young Tapu who was played by Bhavya Gandhi in a pivotal role. Among those who attended the premiere were: Palak Sindhwani who plays Sonu, Gurucharan Singh, who played Sodhi, Samay Shah, who played Gogi and Ambika aka Hasmukhi, among others.

Kehvatlal Parivar is a family drama directed by Vipul Mehta. It stars Siddharth Randeria, Supriya Pathak, Vandana Pathak, Sanjay Goradia, Bhavya Gandhi and Shraddha Dangar.

“Meanwhile,

Debina Bonnerjee, wife of actor Gurmeet Choudhary, had a befitting reply for haters who questioned the way she was holding her newborn child and why she calls her mother-in-law aunty and not mummy. A rather annoyed Debina took to Instagram and shared a photo where she held her daughter Lianna. Gurmeet and both the mothers stood next to her.

Debina captioned the photo, “So many questions you have!! Why I hold my baby a certain way..Why I call my mother in law aunty and not mummy… Any more questions? All I say is I m surrounded by a few pair of protective hands as you can see.. who says it’s all fine.”

“Sima Taparia is back. Netflix on Tuesday debuted a promo video for the upcoming second season of the hit pandemic era reality show Indian Matchmaking. No release date was announced, but the streamer said that the new season is ‘coming soon’.

Indian Matchmaking revolved around a matchmaker based in Mumbai, who travelled the world trying to set singles up. She maintained a physical ledger, filled with her database of eligible candidates, and would decide on a couple’s compatibility using old-school methods such as ‘kundalis’ and good looks. The show, and Sima Aunty, as she fondly came to be known, became a hit at a time when people were locked at home and starved for entertainment.

“Meanwhile,

The Lock Upp winner reacted to attacks against him by comedian Sunil Pal. Pal had attended the season premiere of show and had likened Faruqui to a terrorist.

During an Instagram live interaction on Tuesday, the comedian was asked about Pal calling his comedy ‘vulgar’. He said that he doesn’t understand why Pal feels so strongly about him personally.

“”Sunil Pal was very angry with me, I said what have I done to you? I respect and love comedy as much as you do. You have a right to your opinion. When you came on stage, you must have felt I was disrespecting but I was not. Even if you think I did, I didn’t mean it.””
“””And finally,

Actors Manoj Bajpayee, Sharmila Tagore and Amol Palekar-starrer family drama Gulmohar will make its debut on streaming service Disney+ Hotstar in August.

Tagore, who was last seen in the 2010 romantic-comedy Break Ke Baad, said she is thrilled to be back with her latest project.

The Kashmir Ki Kali actor said, “After a considerable gap, I am very happy to be in the familiar and well-loved ambience of a film set. I agreed almost immediately to be a part of team ‘Gulmohar’- after the moving narration of this heartwarming and beautifully written story. It is a very layered and absorbing family drama and I am sure many will enjoy watching it together with their loved ones in the comfort of their home,” “””
