Earlier this year, Tata Group had named Turkish Airlines Chairman Ilker Ayci as Air India's CEO & MD, but he subsequently denied the position.
The DGCA inspections came in the aftermath of the May 1 incident on SpiceJet's Mumbai-Durgapur flight that left several passengers injured as the plane underwent severe turbulence.
"Specifically, the applicability of the regulation detailing requirements for carriage of persons with disability or persons with reduced mobility will be studied," said the official.
The regulation referred to is part of the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) (Section 3, Series 'M', Part I), which lays down "regulations for carriage of persons with disabilities and reduced mobility by air to protect them against discrimination and to ensure that they receive all possible assistance during their travel".
On Monday, a day after the incident came to light, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradtiya Scindia tweeted that he would personally probe the incident even as the national child rights panel asked Jharkhand Police to lodge a case against the airline.
The incident was brought to light in a Facebook post by a passenger at the airport who was waiting to board another flight. The author of the post, Manisha Gupta, told The Indian Express that the IndiGo staff “did not show any compassion”.

The test flight that landed at Kishangarh is a part of the approval process with aviation safety regulator DGCA, which includes training of pilots, validation of approach and simulator sessions.
